Every download carries its own number (the file thc_data\download.txt) that ties it to your account. Please do not pass the package on.
This is a test build. Dog training is not there yet.
For testers first: “Prepare yourself” is what every player gets before 11 November. It makes a new copy of the game from Steam (about 13 GB), downloads the game's pictures and texts in 18 languages, saves your official account and at the end checks it all – one button. Choose a new folder for the copy, not the one of your Classic Reserve game. Afterwards, or if something goes wrong, send us “Classic Reserve - report.txt” from the new folder and a screenshot of the window.
Already have a copy from an earlier version? Download the program again and run it - it skips the copying and fetches the new pictures and the competitions' texts. You can skip the account step.
How to install
- Run the downloaded ClassicReserveSetup-….exe. Windows may say it does not know the publisher: choose “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
- The installer finds your theHunter Classic in Steam and proposes where to put a copy of it (about 12 GB). Your Steam installation is only read, never changed.
- Click Install. When it is done, the shortcut “Classic Reserve” is on your desktop – start the game with it.
- Updates: the game's menu tells you when a new version is out. One click, and the updater downloads it, checks that it is signed by the project and starts the game again.
By hand: download the zip, copy the game's “game” folder to another place yourself and run install.bat from the zip with the path of the copy.
Browser warning: Chrome and Edge may say the file "is not commonly downloaded and may be dangerous". That is what they say about any new program few people have downloaded yet. Open the downloads list and choose to keep the file (in Chrome: "Download suspicious file").
Antivirus: the client is a new, unsigned file that hooks into the game, so some antivirus programs block it ("Bad Image", error 0xc0000906). If that happens, allow the file dinput8.dll or add the folder of your copy to the exclusions, then unpack the file again.
